Turing Codes

Drafted by the United Nations and enforced by the Turing Police, the Turing Codes are the guidelines by which computer intelligences must abide in order to escape destruction. Named and derived primarily from the eponymous Turing test (though with influence from Searle’s Chinese room argument and Simon & Newell’s physical symbol system hypothesis), the Codes are applied and tested for via regular examinations and audits of sufficiently sophisticated computer software.

Accordingly, a great deal of research has been invested in creating convincing virtual intelligences that are nonetheless devoid of the personal agency that would characterise an artificial intelligence.
